Horse safari from Sorgun
Sorgun stands east of Side with pine forest at its back, which makes it the one area where guests already know the smell of the trees before anybody puts them on a horse.
Sorgun is on the collection list and the driving is inside the fare — €40 per rider, the same figure from every area we serve. You will be riding for about 1 hour and out of the hotel for about 3 hours altogether. Which hour that is comes out of the operating plan for your date; it reaches you a day ahead, on the number your booking carries.
The forest behind your hotel is not the forest you ride
Sorgun's pines are close enough to walk into, and the safari does run shaded pine trail — but the riding centre is inland, in the countryside behind Side, and the vehicle takes you out to it. What you get is the same kind of ground you have been looking at from the balcony, with a horse underneath you and a guide in front.
The rest of the route is open countryside and a length of Mediterranean shore with sand underfoot. That is the whole of it: forest, open ground, shore. Weather, ground conditions and the horses' welfare can shift the exact line on any given morning.
A short list and an unhurried gate
Sorgun is one of the smaller areas in the directory — a compact set of hotels rather than a sprawl — and the names do not fold into one another the way they do further west. Ali Bey Resort Sorgun, Asteria Sorgun Resort, Voyage Sorgun and Lusso Sorgun each read clearly enough on a form.
Two things still help the driver: the full hotel name, and a phone number with its country code. Your hour goes to that number ahead of the ride, and a number nobody can reach is the one thing that reliably spoils a collection.
